Mourola Machher Bati Chorchori

A very common, easy and quick recipe is this Mourola Machher Bati Chorchori. You have already seen my other bati chorchori recipes in my blog and I make them quite often specially for a week night dinner. This is easy, quick , doesnot need your constant attention and at the same time gives you a leap smacking taste. You only need some plain rice to accompany it. When I got these Mourola fish from the market, they were extremely fresh and was shining like silver. No point wasting them through rigorous cooking process. Though you can make Begun diye Mourola Maccher Jhol or Mourola or Mourala machh er jhaal with them as well.

Mourola Machher Bati Chorchori

Ingredients for Mourola Machher Bati Chorchori

  • Mourola fish – 100 gm
  • Potato – 1
  • Onion – 1
  • Green chili – 7-8
  • Tomato – 1
  • Salt and turmeric – as required
  • Mustard oil – 2 tbsp

How to make Mourola Machher Bati Chorchori

Peel and cut the potato thinly. Chop the onion and tomato. Chop the green chili.

In a pan, take all the vegetables and fish. Clean the fish before and descale them. Sprinkle salt and turmeric powder. Mix well.

Add 1 cup of water and pour 1 tbsp of mustard oil. Then put it on gas oven. Keep the heat on the lower side and keep the lid on. It will be slow cooked to a delicacy.

The cooking would be completed once the vegetables are cooked through. You may add some capsicum as well.

Once vegetables are cooked properly, mash the potatoes a bit and adjust the seasoning. Serve with plain rice. I prefer the soupy version of bati chorchori. You may adjust the water as per your liking for the gravy.
