Soya chunk Bharta

This pandemic taught us so many things including our thoughts to channelize in a way to utilize almost everything we have. This soya chunk bharta is one such recipe where I have created something with very little ingredients. You already know that I am a bharta lover and I can make bharta out of almost everything. This Soya chunk Bharta is one such recipe where I have few leftover soya chunks in my pantry. So boiled them, grind them with some masala and then fried them well in oil. You need to put some extra oil to get the flavor fully.

Ingredients for Soya chunk Bharta

  • Soya chunks – a bowl
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Garlic – few cloves
  • Green chili – 6-7
  • Onion – 1, finely chopped
  • Tomato – 1
  • salt, turmeric – as required
  • Cumin and coriander powder – 1 tsp each
  • Dry red chili – 1
  • kalonji or kalojire – 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard oil for cooking

How to make Soya chunk Bharta

Grind ginger , garlic and green chili to a paste.

Boil soya chunk in some water. strain the liquid and let it be cool.

Grind the chunks along with hinger garlic paste.

Heat mustard oil in a pan and add th dry red chili and kalonji seeds. Next add the chopped onion and fry till it turns brown.

Add the chopped tomato and continue frying.

Next goes salt, turmeric, cumin powder and coriander powder. Mix well.

Once the masala fried well, add the ground soya chunks. Mix well with the masala and continue frying .

Continue frying till the water evaporates and oil starts coming out.

Adjust the seasoning and add some more green chili, if you like. Add a spoonful of mustard oil at the end.

Serve with plain rice.
