Machher dim er Bhujiya

We usually make fritters or machher dimer bora when we get fish roe. But now we are getting older and it is not good to have fried items and oil in general , so I was hesitant what to do with the fish roe. Then it came to my mind to cook it in bhujiya style in less oil and with the same ingredients . This Machher dim er Bhujiya turns out wonderfully well. We had it with some musur dal and bhat.

Ingredients for Machher dim er Bhujiya

  • Fish roe – 100 gms
  • Onion – 2 medium, chopped
  • Green chili – 4, chopped
  • Ginger paste – 1 tsp
  • Garlic bits – 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt, turmeric – as required
  • Mustard oil for cooking.

How to make Machher dim er Bhujiya

Clean the fish roe carefully.

Cut them into small pieces. Then add salt and turmeric to the fish roe. Marinate it for 5 minutes.

Now add the ginger paste and chopped green chili. Mix well.

When ready to cook, heat some mustard oil in a pan and add the fish roe to the oil.

Stir it well and fry till it turns golden.

At this stage, add chopped onion and garlic to the pan. Mix and then cook over medium heat till the onion is cooked.

Once onions are cooked, check the seasoning. You may add few more green chilies if you like it hot.

Serve as a side.
