How to make Pomfret Fish in Onion Garlic Gravy
Clean the fish and then fry them with some salt and turmeric powder. Do it in batches and keep aside.
In the same pan, add some more oil if required and then add the chopped onion along with the garlic paste. Fry till the onion is translucent. I have tempered the oil with some kalo jire or nigella seeds.
Add the onion paste now and fry again, till the oil starts coming out.
Add salt, turmeric powder, chili powder and kashmiri chili powder. Sprinkle some water and fry the masala quickly. Now add 2 cups of hot water.
When it starts boiling, slide the fish pieces . Cook covered for 10 minutes over medium to low heat.
When the water has been reduced a bit and fishes are cooked, check the seasoning. Adjust as required.
Boil for 2 more minutes and its ready. Add chopped green chili at the end and keep covered after removing from heat.
Serve hot with plain rice.
