This is the time of the year when you get plenty of fresh fish roe in the market specially from the carp variety. We make fritters out of it which you can enjoy with your evening cuppa. Tastes good as a side with your humble dal and bhat or rice and dal.
- Fish roe – 100 gms
- Onion – 1, big, chopped
- Ginger paste – 1 tbsp
- Garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Green chiili – depends on your heat tolerance, we like the chilli bits in every bite
- Salt, turmeric powder
- Cumin powder – a pinch
- Coriander leaves – a handful, chopped finely
- Besan or gram flour – a spoonful
- White oil for frying
Clean the fish roe nicely.
Now add chopped onion, chopped green chilli, ginger garlic paste, salt, surmeric, cumin powder and finally the chopped coriander leaves.
Also add the besan if using. I sometimes omit this and it doesnot taste bad that way too.
Give it a nice stir so that the masalas mix well with the fish roe.
Keep aside for 15 minutes.
Heat oil in a frying pan. When it is hot, take a spoonful of the fish roe mixture and fey on medium heat till well done from all the sides.
Remove from heat using a slotted spoon and fry the next batch.
Serve with rice and dal.
