Spicy Chicken


  • Chicken-500 gm,cut into bite size pieces
  • Medium potatoes – 3, diced
  • Onion-2 Medium sized, chopped finely
  • Garlic paste-1 tsp
  • Ginger Paste-1 tsp
  • Green chilli paste-1 tsp
  • Tomato-1 pc, roughly chopped 
  • Tomato puree-1 tbsp
  • cumin,coriander,turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp each
  • kasmiri mirch powder 1 tsp
  • kasuri methi – 1 tbsp-soaked in 1/4 cup water
  • Fresh coriander leaves- a handful
  • bay leaves-2
  • cinnamon stick -1,salt n sugar according to taste
  • lemon juice-1/2 tsp (Optional)


Marinate the chicken and potato with ginger, garlic paste, chilli paste, all powdered ingredients and salt for 15 minutes.
Heat oil in a kadai. When it is sufficiently hot, put half tsp sugar in it and wait till it is caramelized. Add bay leaves and cinnamon stick and let it crackle. Now add the onions and fry till golden.
Add the chopped tomatoes and continue frying. Once tomato is mashed and has mixed with the onion, add marinated chicken and cook till oil starts coming out of it.
Add tomato puree and kasmiri mirch and fry well. Add 1/2 cup of hot water and boil with a lid.
Once water evaporates and chicken is almost done, add kasuri methi with water.
Add coriander leaves and the lemon juice. Mix well. 
Your Spicy chicken is ready to serve. Enjoy it with roti and salad.
